Alan

Alan Lodge decided that taking on a sporting challenge and collecting sponsorship was an excellent way of benefiting both his own fitness and the work of Attitude is Everything.

Alan lodge after running a half marathon

It’s a family affair

“My wife is a T12 incomplete paraplegic so music events are often very difficult to attend. The work Attitude is Everything is doing raises awareness of this and will help many people to experience music events.

The challenge

“My decision to run a half marathon came from a friend who had recently started running. They told me how rewarding it was and I decided to give it a go. The Truro half marathon seems to be one of the hardest out there so I thought why not? Having never really committed to any sporting activities before I knew I had my work cut out. A combination of a good diet, varying training regimes and the support of my wife, family and friends gave me the help I needed and the opportunity to raise money and awareness for AiE gave me the motivation."

Tips for success?

“Buy a good pair of running shoes, stretch your muscles well, wear a comfortable top (I found a cotton t-shirt worked for me) and of course fundraise for Attitude is Everything!”
