Make Wristbands History

Don't get us wrong; the first one was a good idea. Lance Armstrong’s LIVESTRONG yellow wristband drew attention to cancer sufferers, promoting unity, support and understanding. Likewise MAKE POVERTY HISTORY’s white wristband, which signalled that people - voters - all over the world were no longer going to accept that 30,000 children a day could die from poverty because of Western apathy. But after that… well, things got a little confused.

We've all seen them: clueless young folk with umpteen different bands up and down each wrist. Celebrities jumped at the chance to appear conscientious and sympathetic, when we all knew they'd rather have Abi Titmuss or Calum Best hanging off their arm. This is what we object to; not the wristbands themselves, but the appropriation of a charitable object by mindless, bandwagon-jumping fashion victims.

Small Japanese Soldier are a creative agency with an agenda. They’re not waging guerrilla design and advertising campaigns, they're railing against fatuous crazes and wondering what we can do to really make a difference. Which is why they support Attitude Is Everything,
