Posted on 09.11.2015
Having already earnt their Bronze awards in previous years, both Festival No. 6 and Parklife Weekender continue to invest in ensuring accessibility for Deaf and disabled people.
Festival No. 6 already had in place a Personal Assistant ticket scheme, as well as viewing platforms and accessible camping. This year, Attitude is Everything is further recognising their dedication to ensuring accessibility, from an accessible buggy service for use around the campsite to a large number and wide range of accessible toilet units. Festival No. 6 also provide an accessible shuttle service from car park to site, with priority given to disabled people, as well as a dedicated access team, however all staff provide a fantastic attitude when dealing with disabled customers.
Parklife, meanwhile, offer a two-page information document, available to download on their website, which outlines their specific access information. Such information includes an accessible car park and dedicated access reception, BSL interpretation for some performances, and lower bars, designed to be accessible for wheelchair users. Personal Assistant tickets are also available to Deaf and disabled music fans wishing to attend Parklife.
Luke Huxham, Event Manager of Festival No. 6, said:
“FN6 are thrilled to be awarded a Silver award for their disabled facilities. We have found the support and guidance from Attitude is Everything invaluable. We hope that over the years we can improve the facilities we provide and ensure that the event is inclusive for everyone.”
Sacha Lord-Marchionne , Festival Director of Parklife, said:
“When we heard that Parklife 2015 was been awarded a Silver Attitude is Everything accreditation, both myself and the rest of the team were overwhelmed. Attitude is Everything is an incredible organisation and an organisation that I would urge other festivals to become part of.
Although accredited with Silver, we are going to strive to carry on and make even further improvements and commitments to providing facilities for deaf and disabled attendees.”
Commenting on the awards, Suzanne Bull MBE, CEO of Attitude is Everything, added:
“Festival No. 6 is an incredible festival, set in the magical location of Portmeirion, run by a fantastic team of people who work incredibly hard to ensure that Deaf and Disabled people have incredible experiences at their festival. Ground Control, who run the festival, have been extremely supportive of both Attitude is Everything and of improving access to live music for all customers, and we’re delighted to be able to offer them the Silver Award on our Charter of Best Practice.”
“It is fantastic to be able to offer Parklife Silver status on our charter and we look forward to working with them to achieve gold. The festival team work hard to do a brilliant job of making the festival accessible. The use of BSL interpretation and lowered bars shows a real commitment to supporting Deaf and Disabled customers. The organisers have a really positive and inclusive attitude and we’re extremely pleased to acknowledge that today”
