L Fest awarded the Silver level of our Charter of Best Practice

L Fest has today been awarded the Silver Level on the Charter of Best Practice for its commitment to improving access for Deaf and disabled music fans.

To qualify for Charter status, live music venues and festivals must demonstrate exemplary access provision and an on-going commitment to improving accessibility - working with Attitude is Everything to go beyond the legal obligations set out in the Equality Act, to implement best practice, and to provide a fair and equal service to their Deaf and disabled customers.

Beyond the basics, L Fest has been specifically recognised by Attitude is Everything for:

  • Accessible wheelchair charging points powered by a solar-powered fire engine.
  • A personalised arrival service where stewards offered to meet customers at the train station and support them onto the site.
  • Accessible workshops including a BSL workshops and a Deaf drama workshop
  • BSL-interpreted performances on request.

Find out more about the access on offer at the festival on their access information page.

Commenting on the award, Suzanne Bull MBE, CEO of Attitude is Everything, said:

Attitude is Everything are delighted to welcome L Fest onto our Charter of Best Practice. The festival has long been winning awards for its diversity and inclusivity and today’s award reflects the festival’s determination to include Deaf and disabled audiences.  We look forward to supporting the festival to obtain gold in future years.

Cindy Edwards, L Fest's Festival Director added:

We are delighted to work alongside Attitude is Everything to obtain the Silver Level. We work hard to provide all of the services required to make sure everyone can enjoy L Fest with a personal approach to cater for their needs. I would also like to thank Dr Ju Gosling and the volunteer team at L Fest for their contribution in helping making the festival accessible for everyone.
