Live Concerts for the Hearing Impaired.
Awareness. Darren Hayman and group recently played a concert in London as part of
an awareness campaign to promote live music with access for the hearing impaired. Alongside this singer-songwriter, the stage boasted a sign language interpreter of this independent artist's literary and difficult song lyrics. Patrons of the scheme include Robert Wyatt (considered by many to be one of the greats of alternative music since the 1970s) on the listings for recitals in this campaign. Another of the scheme's aims is the implantation of a Charter of Good Practice right across the UK. Those behind the campaign have sought out high-profile patrons to use their charisma to create awareness of the concerts. Besides Wyatt, the list of figures includes Alan McGee, Blaine Harrison, Mat Fraser, Susan Hedges and Amadou & Mariam. More information at:www.attitudeiseverything.org.uk.
